Leatuaolevao Ruby Vaa

Talofa, bula, malo e lelei, u orait no moa, hallo long fella, fakalofa lahi atu, kia ora, greetings. Welcome to our website.

This website has been created to link our group to IFUW's website and others such as NZFGW and perhaps AFUW.

Since PGWNet council met in Perth (August, 2004) we have held another meeting at the SAWG conference in September 2005. PGWNet has been active particularly here in Samoa,
in areas such as leadership and decision-making.

On our return to our base in Samoa, we commenced to identify and approach possible executive members to assist Lily and me. I am pleased therefore that we were able to form an executive of mixed talents and expertise in Gisa Fuatai Purcell, who is an ICT expert, Epenesa Pouesi, a physiotherapist and specializes in sports, and Sasa'e Walter, a lecturer in Management at the National University of Samoa, who took over from Funealii Lumaava Sooaemalelagi.
This small but dynamic team met regularly at the start of 2005, planned activities for the network and initiated the SAWG-PGWNet conference Creating Opportunity, Realising Potential. See also "Executive contacts"

Our efforts to become visible and known in Samoa led to the production of a leaflet that publicized what PGWNet is, what it's purposes are, who are/may be members, and its achievements to date. Also displayed on the leaflet is the updated letterhead for the 2005-2007 secretariat here in Samoa. See PGWNet leaflet.  Other activities included a luncheon with guest speaker Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese, focusing on women and politics, and how women are active in winning elections. The SAWG-PGWNet conference in September 2005 was the highlight of the year's events.

Much was achieved by the inaugural secretariat hosted by FAWG during 2002-2004 and we saw the baby developing to become a visible toddler. For their great work we gratefully acknowledge Lily Vesikula (inaugural President) and her team from FAWG. Their work includes formalizing the constitution (see "Constitution"), a number of Council meetings (see "Minutes of Council meeting" ), and a draft brochure on PGWNet (see "Flyer") which has now been printed as hard copies for further distribution. I trust that the activities of 2005-2006 by the SAWG-based secretariat has carried on the foundation work by FAWG and the toddler has begun to run.

Best wishes to all member associations/federations of PGWNet, and sister IFUW affiliations beyond the Pacific reefs.
